What Is Post-Construction Window Cleaning?

Post-construction window cleaning is the specialized final clean that turns freshly installed glass from a jobsite mess into a spotless, ready-to-hand-over surface. New builds, tenant build-outs, and remodels leave windows coated in a stubborn film of construction debris that a standard wash was never designed to touch. It's the last box on the punch list — and the one your client notices first.

Unlike routine commercial window washing, this work is equal parts cleaning and careful removal. Paint overspray, stucco splatter, silicone smears, and factory labels have to come off without scratching the glass — which means a proper razor technique, the right dwell time on chemical treatments, and a trained eye for tempered or coated panes that can't be scraped.

This page covers everything specific to new construction and renovation glass. If your building simply needs ongoing, scheduled service instead, see our full commercial window cleaning service, or our residential window washing for homes.

Post-Construction Detail vs. a Regular Wash

A maintenance wash and a construction clean are two different jobs. Sending a regular crew at bonded-on debris is how glass gets scratched — here's the difference.

Post-Construction Detail

How we handle new-build glass
  • Wet scraping with fresh blades to avoid scratches
  • Coated & tempered panes flagged and hand-treated
  • Paint, stucco & silicone chemically softened first
  • Frames, tracks & sills wiped free of grit
  • Insured, punch-list-ready results for handover

Standard / DIY Wash

Common pitfalls
  • Dry scraping drags grit and scratches the glass
  • Soap and a squeegee just smear over debris
  • Labels and silicone left behind on the pane
  • Coated glass damaged by the wrong blade
  • Grit-packed tracks that bind the windows

Glass & Surfaces We Detail

From a single renovated storefront to an entire new office build, we match the technique to the glass — not the other way around.

  • New-build storefront & curtain-wall glass — large panes detailed inside and out for opening day.
  • Office & commercial windows — whole-floor cleans coordinated around your build schedule.
  • Glass doors, partitions & railings — interior glazing left smear-free and fingerprint-free.
  • Skylights & overhead glazing — safely reached and cleared of drywall dust and overspray.
  • Newly remodeled home windowsFrench-style and divided-lite panes detailed grid by grid.
  • Frames, tracks, sills & screens — wiped and vacuumed so nothing binds or resettles.

What We Remove From Your Glass

Every trade on the site leaves its mark on the windows. We clear the full mix of construction residue that a normal wash can't.

  • Paint & primer overspray
  • Stucco, mortar & drywall mud
  • Silicone & caulk smears
  • Factory labels & stickers
  • Tape & adhesive residue
  • Drywall & sanding dust
  • Concrete & texture spray
  • Hard-water & plaster spotting

How Our Post-Construction Cleaning Works

A careful, scratch-safe routine on every jobsite — built around protecting brand-new glass while it's still fragile.

  1. 1

    Walk the site & quote

We count the panes, note the type of glass and the toughest residue, and give you a written per-pane price before the crew starts.

  2. 2

    Clear the loose debris

Dust, drywall powder, and grit are rinsed and wiped away first so nothing gets dragged across the glass during scraping.

  3. 3

Soften & scrape the bonded residue

Paint, stucco, silicone, and labels are chemically softened, then wet-scraped with fresh blades — coated and tempered panes hand-treated instead.

  4. 4

    Wash & squeegee clear

Each pane gets a full inside-and-out wash and a streak-free squeegee finish, edges detailed by hand.

  5. 5

    Detail frames & final inspection

We wipe frames, vacuum the tracks, and walk the finished glass with you or your site super to sign off the punch list.

Post-Construction Window Cleaning FAQs

Will scraping scratch my new glass?

Not the way we do it. We always wet-scrape with fresh, sharp blades so debris floats off rather than getting dragged across the pane, and we inspect for tempered or coated glass first — those get a chemical, no-blade treatment instead. This scratch-safe method is exactly what separates a proper construction clean from a regular window washing crew.

Do you work with general contractors and builders?

Regularly. We're licensed and insured and comfortable working alongside other trades on an active site. Give us your pane count and target handover date and we'll quote the whole project, schedule around your punch-list timeline, and provide a certificate of insurance for your records.

When should the window cleaning be scheduled?

Always as one of the last steps, after painting, drywall, and exterior work are finished, so nothing re-dirties the glass. On bigger projects we'll do a rough clean earlier to keep sightlines clear, then a full final clean before handover. Tell us where you are in the build and we'll advise on timing during the quote.

Can you remove paint, stucco, and silicone?

Yes — that's the core of the job. Overspray, stucco and mortar splatter, silicone smears, tape, and factory labels are softened with the right solution and then carefully removed from the glass. Very heavy build-up is priced under our heavy-residue rate, and we'll always tell you honestly if any mark has etched into the glass rather than sitting on top of it.

Do you clean the frames, tracks, and sills too?

We do. Frames, tracks, and sills collect drywall dust and grit that will bind the windows and resettle on the glass if it's left behind, so we wipe and vacuum them as an add-on to the pane price. Screens can be brushed or machine-washed on request as well.

Do you handle large commercial or multi-floor projects?

Yes. From a single remodeled storefront to a full new office build, we scale the crew to the site and coordinate ground-level and accessible upper-floor glass. For ongoing service once you're open, many clients roll straight into a recurring plan on our commercial window washing service. Call us at (224) 386-4836 or contact us to scope your project.
